How will the emphasis on 21st Century Skills change middle school programming?
Every student in 6th and 7th grade will enroll in a semester long 21st Century class. In 8th grade, the 21st Century class will be an elective choice that would appeal to students who want more time to focus on project-based learning that includes a high level of technology integration. Each grade level 21st Century Curriculum will have different focus areas of instruction while enhancing the core curriculum in a projectbased format. Students will also develop their computer skills and health concepts while enhancing their leadership abilities. The current TechEd middle school course will be updated and renamed Technology Applications. This course will be project based with an emphasis on science, technology, engineering and mathematics. 21st Century Skills will be embedded into all the content areas. All classes will emphasize critical thinking, problem solving, creativity, collaboration and communication. Student will be more motivated and engaged through the increased use of technol
