How will the elimination of BOAT affect the 50% category?
The 50% category will be the biggest beneficiaries in terms of reducing total tax dollars paid in municipal taxes after the elimination of BOAT. This category will see the BOAT decline from 50% to 40% to 30% to 20% to 10% of commercial assessment, and then finally to zero percent over a five-year phase-out period. The BOAT will be eliminated for this category in the years 2006 through to 2009 and completely in 2010.
