How will the districts move from the Junior High model to the Middle School model affect band?

Much of this is still undecided. We know that in the Fall of 2012, our entire district will begin the Middle School model so Kamiakin will become a middle school with grades 6,7,8. Starting that year, any band member in 6th grade will have band every day (which is GREAT!) but we don’t know yet what the 5th grade Beginning Band model will look like. Our hope is that the district will retain 5th grade band using the middle school band rooms with a schedule that MIGHT look like this: Monday = Beginning clarinets onlyTuesday = Beginning flutes onlyWednesday = Beginning trumpets onlyThursday = Beginning trombones onlyFriday = All Beginners TOGETHER! As a parent, how can I help my child succeed in band? You’ll find that our band directors, Mr. Brannman and Mr. Stroh are quite good at communicating with parents. You’ll enjoy updates and hints about band via email, progress reports, concerts and written letters & notes. Another GREAT way to familiarize yourself with this new and exciting world
