How will the development impact water quality in Plum Creek?
The development will improve the water quality of Plum Creek by utilizing the latest best management practices to improve water quality and controlling storm water runoff. Additionally, the development will include a state-of-the-art central wastewater treatment plant to eliminate the existing septic systems on the Molycorp property and possibly the Titan Road Industrial Park as well. By eliminating septic tanks and controlling storm water, the development will reduce the amount of phosphorous released into the basin, improving water quality in Plum Creek and Chatfield Reservoir. The wastewater plant is being designed to allow for expansion to serve the regional needs of the larger community beyond the boundaries of the SSCC should they desire to participate. The presence of this treatment plant will allow the SSMD to re-use the treated wastewater for dust control and batch plant operations, thus reducing the overall use of water on the site.
