How will the departure of Central Missouri State University, which withdrew with an effective date of December 31, 2004, affect the Consortium?
MSU actuaries have stated that the consortium can remain stable with only the five remaining schools. (Missouri Western State College, Missouri Southern State University, Truman State University, Harris-Stowe State College, and Southeast) However, Central was the largest group in the consortium and had the lowest claims costs. Considering these factors, Centrals departure would mean higher costs for the consortium in addition to the annual inflationary rate increases as it proceeds with establishing plan pricing for plan year 2005. Note: It appears that Truman State University will also leave the consortium effective December 31, 2004. Therefore, the viability of the consortium is questionable.
