How will the current EMWIN transition to the GOES-N EMWIN Channel?
• The EMWIN transition activities began with the award of a prototype receiver system development contract to demonstrate a technological solution to meet the changed EMWIN broadcast characteristics, • The second phase has begun with the release of the prototype and development information to prospective vendors. In this phase vendors will begin to design and produce systems. • The third phase, which will overlap the Second Phase, will be the periodic broadcast of a duplicate EMWIN GOES N-type datastream from a normally stored satellite • The fourth phase will be the broadcast of the EMWIN-N datastream from the GOES-N satellite, currently planned as GOES East • The Fifth Phase will be the broadcast of the EMWIN-N datastream through the GOES West satellite.
