How will the county ensure that the questions are of a high quality and aligned to SOLs?
Our goal is to have tests created by teachers that are currently teaching the course. We will pay interested teachers to work over the summer to create three tests in their subject area. They will have access to the Riverside and Test for Higher Standards item banks, meaning that they will have access to over 100,000 multiple choice questions. They will then determine which questions meet the SOLs and should be included in the tests, which questions need to be edited, and which SOLs are underrepresented by quality questions. The teachers will then write questions to fill in any gaps in SOL coverage. Teachers will have a formative assessment test blueprint (to be created by RCPS this Spring) for each course to help them determine how many questions from each SOL to include on the tests.
