The talented recruiters were already using “Social Networking” to accomplish their mission. What has changed is the speed of communication to your networks. What once was a rolodex and making a ton of phone calls can now be done with a couple of mouse clicks. That being said though. True personal interaction is still a vital component of recruiting. The introduction of internet job boards were once claimed as the panacea of recruiting. Talent Acquistion needs to becareful not to see Web 2.0 or “Social Media” recruiting as the answer to their prayers. It isn’t a magic wand that will transform your medicore recruiters into all stars. I’m not saying you don’t need a Web 2.0 program. It will be a component for every successful TA strategy. I am saying that it needs to integrated into the overall strategy and not be it’s own strategy.
