How will the ACS Initiative achieve its objectives?
The ACS Initiative is underway now and will continue to develop through to its scheduled completion in 2009. During the developmental stage, companies in the air cargo industry are invited to participate on a voluntary basis as Transport Canada: • Implements additional security precautions; • Evaluates security screening technology and systems; and • Facilitates the international and domestic movement of cargo for industry participants. Upon completion of the ACS Initiative, new air cargo security regulations, based on experience gained during the program, will be recommended to the government.
