A one-time $250 payment will be made in May to qualifying adults (age 18 and older) who are eligible for benefits from one of the following federal benefit programs: • Social Security; • Supplemental Security Income (both adults and children receiving cash benefits, except individuals who receive Medicaid in a medical treatment facility such as a nursing home/facility or hospital); • Veteran Administration benefits; and • Railroad Retirement benefits. Individuals who were eligible for these benefits during November 2008, December 2008 or January 2009 will receive the one-time payment. People on multiple programs cannot receive more than one $250 payment. No action is required by individuals who receive the benefits listed above to obtain the $250 payment. The payment will be sent in the same way the current benefit is received, i.e. by check, monthly direct deposit or Direct Express® debit card payment.
