How will the 1835 Fund support Oberlin?
The interest generated by gifts made to The 1835 Fund will be allocated each year at the discretion of the deans of the College and the Conservatory and the dean of Student Life, in consultation with the 1835 Fund advisory committee and officers of the Oberlin Alumni Association of African Ancestry (OAAAA). The Fund will support goals like: – Helping provide essential scholarship support for students of African ancestry; – Supporting an endowed faculty chair in African-American Studies; and – Providing financial support to help distinguished alumni return to Oberlin for academic presentations, concerts and cultural events As the Fund grows, the greater interest income generated increases the needs that can be met.
