How will states collaborate with other stakeholders? How will states work with the Federal government and private sector to advance Health Information Exchange (HIE) among health care providers?
Each group has an important role to play. States enabled by this cooperative agreement program will develop and implement a State Plan that will ensure that a comprehensive set of actions will result in widespread adoption of HIE before Medicare payment penalties begin in 2015. The Federal government will continue to advance interoperability and health information exchange through a variety of regulatory and programmatic activities. The private sector will play an important role in developing innovative solutions to appropriate and secure HIE among health care providers.
