How will SecondLIfe and other technologies shape the knowledge acquisition and skill practice elements of soft skill training?
I think you may have the question backwards. I will explain that first. Knowledge acquisition and skill practice elements of soft skill training will have to shape Second Life and other worlds that will come into being like it. That said, what Second Life permits is a broader range of possibility that can be applied contextually. This requires more creativity and ability of the people who are developing the training, as well as the pushing of the envelope to allow for less constraint where it is necessary. I am presently working on one project for a non-profit within Second Life that is doing just that – by not denying possibility but exploring the limitations of the world, a lot more can be done.
