How will schools of choice be handled?
The committee’s recommendation is to continue schools of choice in some manner. Buildings being at higher capacities will likely mean that the district will not be able to honor all of the schools of choice requests. Until the Board approves a revised policy in February it is not possible to say how schools of choice will be affected, but parents will know this information as soon as possible; most likely around mid-February. Non-resident schools of choice families will receive a letter updating them of their status directly after the Board of Education’s final closure decision.
