How will rhino conservation in Sabah be financed?
Despite the existence of two major funding sources – the Sabah government and Yayasan Sime Darby – the medium and longer term financing situation for rhino conservation in Sabah remains insecure. The dedicated rhino protection teams are run by NGOs (BORA and WWF) who work in collaboration with Sabah Wildlife Department. The bulk of BORA’s funds come from a fund raising lunch held in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, in March 2009.
