How will revenue from future electric power generation be used?
Current contracts with Pacific Power provide that the City will receive a credit for hydropower generation to offset the cost of power that we purchase to run the existing water treatment plant. We expect the hydropower facility to produce about half of the power that the water plant currently uses. If the facility is able to produce more power than the treatment plant needs, Pacific Power would pay the City Water Fund in cash, according to market rates. The value of annual power production at the plant is estimated at less than $90,000 in 1993 dollars.
