How will proposals be selected?

A5. A national Request for Proposals will be launched in spring 2009. The proposals will be assessed on clearly defined criteria including the training-to-employment plan and associated costs, partnership involvement, funding from other sources, the anticipated number of Aboriginal clients to be served, and the number of long-term sustainable jobs for Aboriginal people. Projects must be demand-driven and will be selected on the basis of merit. Funding is not allocated on the basis of regions, groups, or sectors. Once proposals are received, HRSDC officials will review them and ensure that the requirements for funding are in place. A review process similar to the one conducted for the current ASEP projects will be established. Projects will be approved by the Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development. For more information on project assessment and ranking, refer to the Request for Proposals.
