How will privatizing the postal service affect its employees?

The employees will no longer have a job. They might be hired by one of the private companies, but there is no guarantee of that. We would have 700,000 unemployed postal employees if we were privatized. The real question is how privatizing would affect you the customer. You would probably pay more for a letter, get delivery less days per week and would have to travel farther to find a postal store. You might have to have several different mail boxes to recieve mail from several different companies. Also, there would be no sanctity of the mail – in other words, they could open your mail if they wished. USPS is forbidden to open your mail, but I have seen UPS and other companies open a package without any consequences.
