How will people’s carbon footprint reduce from living in the Eco-town?
We are developing a whole raft of new ways of living in the Eco-town that will help cut carbon emissions, both in the Eco-town and the wider clay area that we call the EcoZone – so the benefits will accrue to the wider community and not just the Eco-town inhabitants. This will include cutting the need to use energy and produce carbon in the first place. This can be achieved by: • Reducing the need to travel and making jobs, services and amenity locally available • Providing efficient low carbon forms of transport, such as electric cars, improved local rail and low carbon buses • Making homes and communities energy efficient, both in terms of the materials they are made of and they way they function when people live in them.
