How will overseas criminal records be checked?
• The UK Government is not currently able to get direct access to criminal records held by other countries, and vice versa. Furthermore, the data protection laws of many countries restrict third party access to such information. It will, therefore, be necessary for individuals to obtain criminal record information from the relevant country and then present it to the DfT for consideration.
