How will NPS apply the impact analysis process consistently at each unit?
The settlement agreement provides that the environmental analyses must analyze sufficiently the following impact topics: water quality; air quality; soundscapes; wildlife; wildlife habitat; shoreline vegetation; visitor conflicts; and visitor safety. However, additional issues and concerns may emerge during the internal scoping meetings and the NEPA public participation process. These issues include impacts to cultural resources, Native American sacred sites, environmental justice, and socioeconomic effects. During the internal scoping session NPS will discuss the degree to which these issues apply in each unit and the level of impact analysis necessary for them. EQD drafted a “template” to help ensure consistency in impacts analysis and documentation that it will apply at each unit. Q: How will impacts be measured and described? A: The NPS will follow the process described in DO-12. NPS will analyze systematically the impact of each alternative in terms of its context, duration, and i
