Negotiators ensure that the Canadian Constitution, the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, the Criminal Code of Canada and all federal and provincial laws of general application will apply to First Nation citizens living on treaty settlement lands. Provincial negotiators also ensure that the rights of non-Aboriginal residents on First Nation lands are protected.
