How will NCLB affect school placements?

0

Children who are in schools identified as being “In School Improvement”, based on the percentage of children passing the state achievement tests, may be provided with the opportunity to receive academic assistance in the form of afterschool tutoring, or to be given the chance to transfer to a school not designated as being “In School Improvement”. NCLB will not affect high school placements for 2009-2010. Springtime placements for middle and elementary school children eligible to transfer under NCLB will be completed in addition to school assignments through the parent choice lottery system that CPS has utilized in past years. It should be noted that, if a child transfers under NCLB, they are not eligible for the tutoring services they might have received at their old school.
