How will my work in studio dance classes be evaluated?
A student’s manifest attitude towards the work, amount and quality of growth over the duration of the course, standard of achievement relative to their own potential and relative to the standard of their class, are the main criteria for evaluation. Specifically, students must retain class material, deepen their connection to it, and demonstrate responsiveness to feedback. Furthermore, students must improve their physical and expressive skills, and increase the integration and refinement of these skills. In addition, students are evaluated on their performance in a number of additional assignments and presentations designed to measure a historical, aesthetic, physical and intellectual understanding of the discipline and an ability to communicate this understanding. Success in dance training demands the consistency of presence, attention and application. While the evaluation process may appear unrelenting, students can take heart that the opportunity for feedback, improvement and growth
