How will my staff and I be trained to use the EHR systems to comply with the “meaningful use” requirements?
While the EHR vendor for any system you choose should provide training, practices should confirm they will receive adequate training on the various functions in their system upon installation and any future upgrades. As health IT evolves, it will be critical that EHRs are updated to meet new requirements that may be established in future rulemaking to continue eligibility for incentives. The legislation establishes regional centers to provide technical assistance on implementing health IT. These centers also will disseminate “best practices” to ensure electronic information exchange to improve health outcomes. ACC will continue to monitor the incentive program and health IT rulemaking process so that members can take advantage of these resources. The ACC will provide more information about the incentives as the Department of Health and Human Services releases information about how the program and related standards will be implemented.
