How will my donation to the Japan Earthquake Relief Fund be used?
The Japan Earthquake Relief Fund currently supports four organizations – Tokyo Volunteer Network for Disaster Relief, JEN, Entrepreneurial Training for Innovative Communities (ETIC), and the Japan NPO Center –involved in immediate relief efforts to help victims of the earthquake and tsunamis that struck Japan on March 11, 2011. Japan Society is now focusing on organizations that are working on long-term healthcare needs, including mental health services, and the needs of children, including children who have lost one or both parents. Additionally, Japan Society is committed to supporting organizations that contribute to the longer term recovery and reconstruction effort, which many experts believe will take five years or more. Criteria in our selection process included implementation capability, efficiency, financial strength and transparency.
