How will my child maintain and expand her/his knowledge of English while in the Spanish Immersion program?
The Spanish Immersion program lasts for three hours. After this time, the program reverts to English so your child’s acquisition of her/his native language will not be arrested/impeded. Furthermore, if you speak English at home, your child will receive significant exposure to English. Research in the field of pre-school bi-lingual education and immersion strongly suggests that children’s acquisition of their primary language is not compromised through the introduction of a second language and may in fact be enhanced by exposure to a second language.
