How will my Cancer insurance coverage be affected during an unpaid leave of absence?

You can continue your cancer coverage up to 60 days during non-FMLA leave, 12 weeks for FMLA leave and 24 months for military leave. If you have not returned to work within the required timeframe and have not otherwise qualified for the cancer disability premium waiver, your coverage will automatically terminate. In this case, you will have to provide Evidence of Insurability (EOI) to restart the coverage. Otherwise, you can qualify for COBRA coverage. As another option, you may terminate your cancer coverage prior to your leave. In this case, EOI is not required when you return to work (within the leave period) and you wish to restart your coverage.
