How will MDH ensure that laboratories accredited by another state are following the Minnesota laws and rules for accreditation?
If Minnesota is not the primary accreditation body, MDH will not conduct the onsite inspection unless state program requirements cannot be resolved through other means. However, MDH will receive copies of assessment reports written by other NELAP-recognized Accreditation Bodies, and MDH will continue to review data, PTs, and laboratory documents (i.e. SOPs, QAM) for Minnesota program-specific requirements. Discrepancies between Minnesota program requirements and laboratory documentation will be discussed with the laboratory and the Minnesota program staff (e.g. MDA, MPCA, MDH-EH, etc) for prompt resolution. If the issue is not satisfactorily addressed through the laboratorys interaction with the program staff, MDH will submit a review request through the laboratorys primary accreditation body.
