How will layoffs during a state shutdown affect temporary unclassified employees?
You will receive notice that you are being placed on an “involuntary unpaid leave of absence” effective July 1, 2011. If you are on an unclassified service leave of absence from a classified position, you should be given the option to return to your classified position and be laid off or remain in your unclassified position and be placed on involuntary, unpaid leave of absence. You will remain on this leave until the end of your appointment or the end of the shutdown, whichever happens first.
