How will Latrobe City control issues such as noise, dust and litter?

Being a new landfill site, Latrobe City will have the opportunity to implement a design which will minimise the potential for such nuisances. This will be achieved through the following: • Construction of earth mounds to reduce noise • Full sealing of all access and exit roads (unsealed roads are traditionally the largest contributor to dust); • Appropriate fencing of the site to prevent litter escape including use of mobile fences at the tipping face; • Capping of waste to minimise the escape of litter; • Infrastructure to wash vehicles on exiting the site. In addition to the above, all waste transport companies are required to meet the waste transport guidelines administered by the EPA. This includes the appropriate securing of loads from the waste collection point to the landfill.
