How will landfill rate increases affect the rate to the customers in the future?
The City anticipates that garbage disposal rates at the landfill will continue to increase in the coming years, and the landfill charge is one of the components figured in the rate charged to our customers. As stated above, a goal of the new program is to generate revenue to the City when commodity prices are high, which could be used to offset increases in landfill costs.
