How will illegal hunting be prevented?
Game Council NSW only represents licensed, accountable hunters who, along with the broader community, want to stamp out the minority who choose to hunt illegally. As such, licensees are keen to protect their own reputations and will no doubt do all they can to assist police by reporting criminal activities through Crimestoppers. One of the most significant and often overlooked safety and compliance measures is the comprehensive hunter education and accreditation program introduced by the Game Council. This initiative is setting and maintaining consistently high standards among licensed hunters. Enforcing compliance on declared public land will be greatly assisted by arrangements for appropriate staff from the Game Council, Police and Forests NSW to access details of those hunters who have permission to hunt in declared areas on each day. This is secure information and is only available to these staff.
