How Will I Be Able To Sleep In A Strange Environment With All The Wires Attached?
Patients referred to a sleep center for testing frequently ask this question. We have made every effort to make the sleep center, particularly the bedroom areas, comfortable and non-clinical. Most of the technical equipment is located in a separate “control” room where you will be monitored by a specially trained technician throughout your study. Intercoms are located in the bedroom, which allow you to contact the technician at any time during your study. You may feel a little strange at first when having the electrodes and sensors attached, but most patients do not find them uncomfortable or inhibiting to their ability to fall asleep. If you have a history of reacting to certain types of adhesives, please let us know in advance so that we can provide alternatives.
