How will HIPAA impact Vanderbilt?
Because of its broad reach, HIPAA will impact the Medical Center in many ways, as well as portions of the University. It will require changes to information systems and how we use them. It will impact our confidentiality practices and affect the way we handle and share health information. It will affect our relationships with our vendors and other external partners. It will also require additional training and administrative activities. Some of these impacts will be “behind the scenes”, but others will have the potential to affect everyone across the Medical Center.
