You will be able to get a full readout of the channel, the agency, the department, and other information about the frequency you are listening to, whereas with other types of screens you only get a very small amount of limited information. The touch screen allows you to easily program and get to know the scanner without memorizing a bunch of confusing buttons on the side of the scanner.
