How will harmonization affect the groups exempt under the PST?
Wood producers, silviculturists, farmers, fishers and aquaculturists currently receive input tax credits for GST paid. Under harmonization, these industries will also receive input tax credits for HST paid on all of their business purchases. They will also still receive all of the non-sales tax related benefits associated with their current ID cards (e.g., exemption for fuel used in their businesses). Farmers will continue to benefit from the Farm Land Identification Program.
