How will Gunns sell its pulp if the market demands its source is from FSC certified wood?
Surely they could command a higher price premium for certified wood. Conspiracy theories don’t really add value to the debate. Taxpayer funding was used … it’s all on the record. #2 Russell Langfield, The FSC status is required not simply for fresh woodchips, it is the whole supply chain to the final product eg. Book paper, Fuel pellets, sawn timber and veneer or plywood for houses or furniture that require FSC. Also, the FSC process is not an end in itself, it is being reassessed and people will be involved thoughout the the time. If the Standard is not fulfilled, there is a way to let the (international) market know.
