How will globalization affect the corporate responsibility agenda?
Surprisingly, again, three-quarters of the sample saw globalization as likely to be neutral (24%) or even helpful (54%) to the corporate responsibility agenda. Figure 3: Issues most likely to derail globalization These are issues we will get into in greater depth in the final report, but it’s interesting to see two significant clusters here: conflict and terrorism, and energy availability and climate change. Though ranked relatively low, we were interested to note the ‘non-Americanization forms of globalization’ item. If we had to bet, we would probably bet: (1) alongside the 14% of those in Figure 1 who saw globalization taking a different track; (2) the impact on the corporate responsibility agenda (Figure 2) willl not be ‘neutral’ but mixed, with some highly positive trends and some highly negative ones; and (3) that many of the factors spotlighted in Figure 3 will take us down the ‘alternatives to Americanization’ track.
