How will football recruiting be impacted?
Unfortunately, the ramifications of Vanderbilt’s difficult football season don’t stop at simply losing 10 games. Recruiting has already taken a hit, with the loss of tight end Davis Dudchock to fellow academic powerhouse Stanford after he backed out of a verbal commitment to the Commodores. Will the Commodores be able to remain competitive in the SEC after their worst season since 2002? That remains to be seen. Will A.J. Ogilvy step up in conference play? A.J. Ogilvy has the ability to take over games. And as he goes, the Commodores tend to as well. Vanderbilt’s rousing victory over Florida was in large part due to Ogilvy’s ability to assert himself in the post. He has shown flashes of this kind of dominance over and over, but there have also been times where he has disappeared.
