How will flora in the proposed road corridor be affected?
The road will pass through a stand of Swamp Sclerophyll Forest, an Endangered Ecological Community. However the alignment of the road has been located to minimise disturbance of the stand, although a portion of this stand will require removal. Compensatory planting is proposed in adjacent areas. Several old-growth Scribbly Gums with hollows are located at the southern and northern ends of the project. In most cases, these trees will be retained. Additional planting of Scribbly Gums will be carried out along the road reserve, in these locations. Orchids will be relocated, with the assistance of members of Ulitarra Conservation Society.
