How will Euro NCAP change in spring 2009?
Euro NCAP acknowledges that four- and five-star crash test ratings have become the norm. So to keep manufacturers on their feet – and to encourage them to improve child and pedestrian protection and not just focus on occupant safety – it is shaking up the tests. From February 2009, Euro NCAP will include ratings for electronic stability control and give an overall percentage for a car’s total protection. Individual star ratings will be retained, but the new overall percentages will include pedestrian safety, whiplash tests and provision of ESP.
