How will EIP handle children who turn 19 or 25 between September 1 and November 30, 2010?
A. Eligibility for coverage of dependent children younger than 26 will not be effective until January 1, 2011. In the meantime, a subscriber with a dependent turning 19 between September 1 and November 30 must still submit documentation of full-time student status or incapacitation to avoid a break in coverage. Acceptable documentation for a full-time student includes an acceptance letter, proof of preregistration or statement of student status verification on letterhead from the educational institution. A dependent child, turning age 19 or 25 between September 1 and November 30, who is not certified as a full-time student or incapacitated child will be dropped from his parents’ coverage. A subscriber with a child in this category must submit a paper Notice of Election form (NOE) by December 31, 2010, to have the child added back to the policy effective January 1. This NOE should be completed and returned to EIP as quickly as possible. Returning this NOE does not enroll the child in CO
