How will customers actually receive the renewable energy?

0

All of the energy produced at New Mexico Wind Energy Center will go directly onto the electric grid, just like energy produced at any other power plant. It is from this grid that customers pull their electricity every hour of the day. Since electricity follows the path of least resistance, it’s difficult to say exactly where the wind energy flows after it enters the grid. However, when a PNM customer signs up to buy a certain amount of wind energy, that much wind energy is put onto the grid for that customer. Any amount of wind energy produced that is not subscribed to by PNM customers will be sold elsewhere in New Mexico or even out of state. It is important to note that every kilowatt-hour of renewable energy generated will replace electricity that would have been generated by conventional fossil fuels.
