How will creating the District help League City citizens who don’t own commercial property?
The District will help League City compete with other cities in attracting new businesses. Most cities in the Houston metro area fund economic development projects through dedicated sales taxes. These communities have saved large amounts of reserve funds that can be used to encourage new business investment. A Municipal Improvement District will help League City make improvements to attract businesses. This would help diversify our tax base, lower the property tax rate and reduce the number of people who commute out of town every day to their places of work.
