How will construction of this project affect local road conditions, including road closures and detours? How will traffic be impacted on the PA Turnpike and I-95?
Two lanes of traffic in each direction of the PA Turnpike and I-95 will remain open throughout the entire construction period, with the exception of some planned nighttime closures for safety reasons. Construction on four of the six overhead structures will require detours. The Richlieu Road Bridge will likely be built slightly off alignment, which means the existing bridge can be kept open to traffic while the new one is built. The Hulmeville Road Bridge will be constructed in two stages, and one lane in each direction will remain open during both stages. The remaining overhead structures of Galloway Road, Bristol-Oxford Valley Road, Bensalem Boulevard, and Ford Road will be closed and detoured (during separate timeframes). All detours must be posted along State Routes approved by PennDOT and will be shared with the public as the construction timeframe approaches.
