How will C-MAP help prepare for an accreditation visit?
C-MAP was designed and created by a group of experienced nurse educators from across the country. These individuals had experience in preparing for and participating in accreditation visits. The group also had educators with experience as site visitors for both NLNAC and CCNE. C-MAP helps to establish internal consistency of a curriculum by demonstrating that unit and clinical objectives relate to course objectives; and that course objectives relate to program outcomes and competencies. C-MAP reports provide visual evidence of these relationships (internal consistency) and show progression as demonstrated by increasing levels of complexity as students move through the curriculum. When talking about internal consistency of a curriculum, educators are referring to the fact that courses link to their stated program outcomes, and that they do what they say they do by linking together and showing relationships and progression marching through content.
