How will BAH work for families where both spouses are military members?
Both members will receive BAH. Rent is the with dependent rate of the senior service member, whether or not the senior service member receives with dependent BAH. The family will retain any excess BAH beyond the senior members with dependent BAH rate, which generally includes all or some portion of the junior members BAH. For example, if the senior member receives with dependent BAH, the junior members entire BAH would be retained by the family. If the senior member receives without dependent BAH, the difference between with dependent and without dependent BAH would be made up by a portion of the junior members BAH and the family would retain the difference.
