How will assessment / taxes be handled within the annexation territory?
Lands and improvements within the annexation territory, excluding Farm Property, will be taxed by The City on the same basis as if they had remained in the MD of Rocky View, and shall be taxed by the City at the applicable MD of Rocky View annual tax rate. The M.D. of Rocky View tax rates will continue to apply for 15 years unless one of the following triggering mechanisms occurs: owner-initiated redesignation, owner-initiated subdivision, and/ or connection to City services If a triggering mechanism occurs the above tax provision will no longer apply. Business-related taxes will be charged that are no greater than similar taxes would have been had the business remained in the MD, for 15 years unless one of the following triggering mechanisms occurs: owner-initiated redesignation, owner-initiated subdivision, an/ or connection to City services If a triggering mechanism occurs the above tax provision will no longer apply. Farm exemptions will continue for 30 years.
