The ENF Legacy Awards contest provides educational assistance to children and grandchildren of Elk members who are high school seniors, going on to college, and exhibit the core values of the Elks National Foundation: • Knowledge • Charity • Community • Integrity The Selection Committee will judge applications based on the values above. There will be no further investigation of the prospective students or their parents with respect to financial need or other personal matters. How Do I Apply, and What Are the Deadlines? Eligible students should apply in the following manner: • Obtain a six-page Legacy Award Application from your local Lodge, visit the Elks website to download an application, or online send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to the Elks National Foundation. Applications will be in the Lodges and online by September 1, 2005. • The student must complete the application and return it to the Elks National Foundation postmarked no later than January 13, 2006, along with an up

Applications will be reviewed by a special selection committee which will include input from representatives from both two- and four-year post-secondary institutions. Applications will be reviewed for financial need, academic performance, community involvement and other life experiences. The application must include three letters of personal recommendation. Finalists may be interviewed by committee members.

The selection committee will judge applicants’ scholarship and leadership abilities based on the following information. 1. SAT or ACT scores 2. Transcript of high school credits 3. Scholarship Award Application This is a merit-based scholarship program. Merit includes leadership in school, civic and other extracurricular activities; academic achievement; and the motivation to serve and succeed. Personal character is also very important. If two or more applications are extremely close in qualifications, the selection panel will use financial need as the tiebreaker.

Primarily on academic merit judged on OP score (or equivalent), and your final subject results, then on your demonstrated leadership qualities, community service, extra curricular activities and referees reports.
